Erik ten Hag insists Manchester United have no regrets over signing Rasmus Hojlund instead of Harry Kane this summer.
Manchester United news, exclusives and analysis
United had explored a move for Kane at the start of the summer but ended up moving on due to the costs involved in signing the England captain from Tottenham.
Bayern ended up agreeing a £100 million deal to sign Kane from Spurs, while United opted to land Hojlund in a £72m deal from Atalanta.
Hojlund is being carefully managed back to full fitness after arriving at Old Trafford with a back injury, meanwhile, Kane has hit the ground running at Bayern with four goals in four Bundesliga appearances.
But Ten Hag is adamant that United made the correct decision in the transfer window.
‘I don’t think we have to repeat this debate,’ Ten Hag replied when asked if United have any regrets about missing out on Kane.
‘We are happy with Rasmus, obviously first game he was injured.
‘He played against Arsenal, he’s now had a start, now we have to integrate him in the team.
‘But you can see he’s a big talent and he will contribute to our game. We’re quite confident of that.’
Kane, meanwhile, says he is ‘really happy’ about joining Bayern in the summer.
‘Obviously, over the summer I know there were some talks between a few clubs in the background, but Bayern were a team I was really interested and excited by,’ said the England captain ahead of Bayern’s Champions League clash with United on Wednesday evening.
‘There were not too many other discussions once they came in. It was between them and Tottenham to talk and then the deal got done.
‘My focus is on here. Manchester United are a great club, a really big club as well. I just decided to come here and am really happy I have.’
