Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag has reportedly left staff stunned by working 12-hour days to fix the Red Devils’ woeful form. The Dutchman has been spending most of his days at the club’s Carrington training complex in a bid to overturn a dismal start to the season.
A narrow 1-0 victory over Luton on Saturday ensured there was no hangover from a dismal 4-3 Champions League defeat against Copenhagen last week. Ten Hag’s job is hanging by a thread due to some awful form in the Premier League and in Europe.
Three points this weekend have elevated United into sixth in the top-flight. But they have lost five of their opening 12 matches, in addition to three reverses in the Champions League.
Ten Hag has been keen to prove that he is the long-term solution to United’s problems. The 53-year-old has reportedly left staff stunned by working 12-hour days at the club’s training ground.

According to The Sun, kitchen and security staff have noted Ten Hag arriving before 7am most mornings. It is reported that he sometimes does not leave until 7.30pm, arriving back home an hour later.
Ten Hag will supposedly spend a couple of hours at home each day once the players have left the training ground, only to return to the club’s Carrington complex. A source allegedly told the newspaper: “Nobody can accuse Ten Hag of a lack of effort.
“He’s been coming in very early and leaving very late, sometimes not leaving until 7.30pm. Sometimes he’s there so early he’s catching the security and kitchen staff on the hop.”
Victor Lindelof’s second-half goal handed United a much-needed victory in a tetchy affair at Old Trafford on Saturday, with Ten Hag perhaps feeling the reward for his long days. The Red Devils had lost three of their previous four matches before welcoming the Hatters, including successive 3-0 home defeats against Manchester City and Newcastle.

Ten Hag felt his side should have beaten Luton by more and tore into his players at half-time over their cautious approach to the game. The former Ajax tactician felt his players did not take risks. “We create many chances and we could have made life easier if we score goals,” Ten Hag reflected.
“In the first half, I observed four 100 per cent chances. If you get the first, you get the second and it becomes easier.
“I told them at half-time we are not taking risks. If you bring bodies higher on the pitch, the opportunity to score goals is higher. It will come but with those four 100 per cent chances, one has to find the net.”
