Ex-Barca ace Arturo Vidal hammers ‘only bad thing’ about Garnacho’s Man Utd goal

Manchester United star Alejandro Garnarcho has been told to stop copying Cristiano Ronaldo by Arturo Vidal.

Garnacho, 19, produced one of, if not the, best goals in Premier League history in United's 3-0 victory away at Everton on Sunday (November 26) – setting them on their way with a jaw-dropping overhead kick.

He then headed to the corner flag to celebrate like his 38-year-old idol Ronaldo, hitting his signature 'Siu'. After being mobbed by his team-mates, he then also copied the Red Devils legend's 'I am here' pose, pointing to the turf defiantly.

Former Barcelona hard man Vidal, who's still playing himself for Brazilian side Athletico Paranaense and Chile aged 36, would like to see the Argentina youngster forge his own path.

Speaking on his Twitch channel, he said: "The only bad thing or what I didn't understand is why he celebrates like Cristiano? He has to make his own name. He is an already great player.

"It's good that he is his idol, respect for that, but then he has to make his name. How are you going to celebrate a goal and remember it? I don't know, celebrate it another way. But it was a great goal, it was a great goal."

Garnacho has earned comparisons to Ronaldo for the way he's broke into the United team as a teenage sensation on the left wing. United boss Erik ten Hag played those down in his post-match interview.

“Don’t compare, I don’t think it is right," he told Sky Sports. "They all have their own identity but for Garnacho to go that way he has a lot to come, he has to work very hard.

"You have to do it on a consistent basis and so far he has not. But he definitely has high potential to do some amazing things, it's not the first time we saw this.

"We have already often seen glimpses, but if you want to be a player like Rooney or Ronaldo you have to score 20, 25 goals in the Premier League each season. That's not easy to get, you have to work hard, you have to go in areas where it hurts.

"So a lot to come. But potential, he has it. It was a fantastic goal. In the season, there are still many games to play, but maybe already it is the goal of the season. Not only the finish, it was the back to the end but the finish was incredible."
