Not long after arriving in Turkey, Ryan Kent is already making a splash among the local media.

That's after it was widely reported the Liverpool product is seeking someone to sit his pet crocodile – and he's willing to pay handsomely for the pleasure. Kent, 26, joined Super Lig giants Fenerbahce this summer after spending five years at Rangers, where he won the Scottish Premiership, a Scottish League Cup and finished as a Europa League runner-up in 2022.

It's understood the Oldham native is fond of exotic wildlife and had at least one crocodile companion during his time in Glasgow. And Turkish outlet Yenicag reported he's taken the toothy terror to Istanbul following his summer move.

Looking after the scaly sidekick could be a decent money-maker for one willing worker, however, after it was also reported Kent's advertising the job complete with a $3,000 (£2,400) salary.

Presuming that's the monthly sum on offer, it could be a lucrative gig for anyone with a fondness for the fanged fiends. Kent's career in football may leave him with plenty of spare time on his hands, but away trips and European fixtures across the continent mean he's not always on hand for feedings.

Life in Istanbul started off positively enough for the winger after he bagged on debut against Moldovan outfit Zimbru in Europa Conference League qualifying. He later notched an assist in his second outing – a 3-1 first-leg win over Slovenian side Maribor – before making his Super Lig bow in a 2-1 win over Gaziantep.

The Turkish titans are all but guaranteed to reach the Conference League group stage after beating Dutch side Twente 5-1 in the first leg of their play-off clash. Doing so would ensure the former Rangers talisman will be on the road much more this season, leaving his cold-blooded critter in need of more constant care.

The average adult male crocodile grows to between four and five metres in length. Not only that, but they're known to have the strongest bite in the entire animal kingdom.

Turkish outlet EnsonHaber reported Kent 'has a special interest in wild animals', and it's understood former Ibrox team-mate James Tavernier has commented on his crocodiles in the past. But they (or it, if he only has the one in Istanbul) may find the natural heat in Istanbul a more suitable climate than the greys more regularly on display in Glasgow.

Kent is hoping to rediscover his own predatory instinct in Turkey after he scored three goals and recorded 10 assists during his last season at Rangers. That was considerably less than the three goals and 19 assists me managed in the season prior to that, though he hit his top form contributing 13 goals and 14 assists in the Premiership-winning campaign of 2020/21.

The former England under-20 international has already demonstrated a little more bite after netting on his Fenerbahce debut. As for any exotic creatures at home however, Kent will hope they keep their appetites strictly to themselves.
