Ex-Liverpool ace Grabara ‘sent death threats’ for Galatasaray ‘s***hole’ remark

Former Liverpool goalkeeper Kamil Grabara and his wife have been left in fear for their safety after reportedly being sent death threats on social media. The Polish stopper had sparked a backlash when he appear to mistakenly describe Galatasaray’s stadium as a “s***hole”, before changing it to “s*** game”, when playing with his club FC Copenhagen on Wednesday. But the issue has become far more serious with alleged threats being made to Grabara’s family.

Galatasaray scored twice late on to secure a 2-2 draw against 10-man Copenhagen at RAMS Park, with Grabara in between the sticks for the Danish club. Mohammed Elyounnoussi and Diogo Goncalves had put the Danes two goals up, before Elias Jelert’s red card on 73 minutes changed the complexion of the game.

Sacha Boey and Tete struck within two minutes of each other to earn the hosts a point with just two minutes remaining. And the goalkeeper could not contain his frustration at throwing away two precious points and took to Instagram to vocalise his anger about the result.

He initially wrote: “Deserved all three points from that s*** hole, but that’s life, we move on.”

However, after receiving a huge backlash from angry Turkish supporters, he edited the caption which later included the phrase changing to ‘s*** game’, suggesting it may have been a typo. He has also turned off the ability for users to comment on the Instagram post in question, which has been liked by over 33,000 people since it was shared on Wednesday night.

But the 24-year-old, who spent five years at Liverpool between 2016 and 2021, has since reportedly been sent chilling death threats from people who have also allegedly targeted his wife with horrific comments.

His wife, Dominika Robak, posted two screenshots of the apparent death threats, which were sent by direct message, on her Instagram story which included comments such as ‘tell kamil he will be dead soon’ and ‘we will ur husband and just u wait’.

She claimed to have received over 300 messages, adding in the caption: “I can’t count how many comments there are… no words”

The shocking messages are another example of how footballers have become open targets for trolls on social media, with little action coming from tech company CEOs to ban them.

Grabara is yet to publicly address the threats being sent to him, but he is likely to be aware as they have been published on his wife’s account. As of Thursday afternoon, his club FC Copenhagen are also yet to comment on the death threats being sent their way.
