Former Manchester United star Ravel Morrison has been fined after being caught using a dead person’s blue badge to park his Audi.
The 30-year-old midfielder was convicted of fraud and ordered to pay almost £2,000 by magistrates. Morrison claimed while being interviewed by police under caution that he bought the badge from “someone in Old Trafford” for £50.
The Manchester Evening News reported how his offence came to light on May 22, 2021 after a parking warden spotted his white Audi S3 parked in Deansgate in Manchester city centre, with a blue badge displayed in the high-powered vehicle. The permits are only given to people whose disabilities or health means that their mobility is limited.

But having checked the blue badge, the officer noticed that its owner had died in February of the previous year. Jamaican international Morrison was then given a ticket and the car was impounded.
The ex-West Ham and Derby County midfielder picked up his Audi later that day, according to a statement from Manchester City Council. He was charged and pleaded guilty to one count of fraud at Manchester Magistrates' Court on Thursday, November 30.
Morrison, of Westbrook, Warrington, was fined £1,000 for the offence. He was also ordered to pay costs of £508 and a victim surcharge of £400.
After the hearing, a spokesperson for Manchester City Council said: “This ruling shows that the law is applicable to everyone, with no exceptions. I am grateful for the diligent work of our investigating officers, as well as legal counsel, who were able to successfully prosecute this case.

“Our officers patrol the streets daily to ensure that blue badges are used legitimately, and we will not hesitate to take action if we discover people trying to circumvent the law.”
Morrison came through United’s academy but only made three appearances in the first team before signing for West Ham in 2012. His chequered career has seen him play for 13 clubs.
That included stints in Serie A with Lazio, Mexico with Atlas and the Netherlands with Den Haag. He currently plays for DC United in the MLS, formerly managed by Wayne Rooney.
