‘Valverde arrived at Real Madrid in July 2016, when he was only 18 years old. In his six seasons defending the first team shirt he is already one of the best midfielders in the world.’
Valverde, who joined the club from Uruguayan side Penarol, will see his salary increase.
His release clause – which currently stands at €1bn – will also reportedly be raised, according to The Athletic.
Madrid have reportedly been attempting to get their star players to sign new contracts with the club amid interest from clubs in the Premier League and Saudi Pro League.
