Feyenoord 2-0 Celtic: Brendan Rodgers’ side finish DISASTROUS night with nine men after two red cards as Feyenoord score in either half
Celtic finished their Champions League opener beaten 2-0, two men down, and utterly miserable after a humbling night at Feyenoord.
Their Dutch hosts scored in both halves via Calvin Stengs and Alireza Jahanbaksh and could have had five with two goals ruled out by VAR and a penalty saved.
Brendan Rodgers’ men were second best but could have had a better evening were it not for the second-half sending-offs of Gustaf Lagerbielke and substitute Odin Thiago Holm.
The inquisition will be painful for the Scottish champions after a night of ill discipline.
One saving grace is that Lazio rescued a late point against Atletico Madrid, meaning Celtic are only a point behind the second and third-place teams.
More to follow.
Feyenoord had a jubliant night at the expense of Celtic with a 2-0 win on their return to the Champions League
