Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus has surprisingly confessed that scoring goals is not one of his main strengths.
Jesus returned from a recent hamstring injury to start Brazil’s World Cup qualifier against Argentina on Tuesday night but failed to score as his side were beaten 1-0 thanks to a Nicolas Otamendi header.
Speaking after the game, he defended his record in front of goal and called for more patience from fans, but admitted that finding the back of the net is not something that comes naturally to him.
‘Scoring goals is inevitable (but) it is not my strongest suit,’ he told reporters.
‘I play to score a goal, that’s why I’m in the national team. Scoring goals (again) will happen naturally.’

Jesus has shown his class in the Champions League this term, netting three goals in as many games for the Gunners to take them to the brink of the knockout stages with two group matches remaining.
But he has struggled to replicate those numbers in the Premier League, having scored just once in seven Premier League appearances.
This follows on from him scoring 11 goals in his debut season at the Emirates last year.
Jesus’ return to fitness is a welcome boost for Mikel Arteta’s men, but questions remain over whether he is the man to lead Arsenal to their first Premier League title since 2004.
Arteta can currently call upon Jesus and Eddie Nketiah to fulfill the lone striker role, but Arsenal have been linked with bringing in another forward in January.
Brentford’s Ivan Toney has emerged as a potential target, with the England international set to return from his eight-month ban for gambling offences at the start of 2024.
