VAR brought under question after Luis Diaz decision | Football Digest
Jude Bellingham can turn his hand to pretty much anything these days, including leaving a television studio in stitches. The England midfielder has hit the ground running at Real Madrid and was back to his scintillating best against Napoli in the Champions League on Tuesday.
The 20-year-old assisted Vinicius Junior before scoring himself seven minutes later as Los Blancos came from behind to beat Serie A champions Napoli in Group C at the Diego Armando Maradona stadium in Naples.
After the match, Bellingham performed interview duties for CBS Sports when journalist Guillem Balague told the midfielder that he had performed like two of the show’s expert panellists Thierry Henry and Jamie Carragher.
Balague said: “You had to do a lot of defending. You looked like Jamie Carragher. When you attacked sometimes you looked like Theirry Henry.”
Realising that the Spanish reporter had omitted Carragher and Henry’s co-panellist Micah Richards from his description, Bellingham said: “Not Micah, no?”
The quip triggered Carragher and Richards into fits of belly laughter in the CBS Sports Studio. Balague responded by saying: “On the set plays you looked like Micah!”
Bellingham added: “I’ll take that, it’s a good combination of three players. Hopefully Micah’s happy with that.”
Former Manchester City defender Richards paid tribute to the Real Madrid star for mentioning him.
Richards said: “Let’s call this the Meek show. What are you guys doing here? Everyone’s asking for me! Jude, where are you? Where am I looking? [choosing a studio camera to face] I love you too. Not just Messi. You’re absolutely fantastic. Ballon d’Or is coming your way.”
The CBS Sports show that covers Champions League games in the US has received widespread praise for the chemistry between its pundit line-up of Carragher, Henry and Richards alongside show host Kate Abdo.

Bellingham joined Madrid from Borussia Dortmund last summer for a base transfer fee in excess of £89 million.
The England midfielder has scored six goals in seven appearances for the Spanish giants including both of the club’s first two Champions League matches.
Bellingham narrowly missed out on a Bundesliga title winners medal last season when Dortmund threw away the title, drawing with Mainz 2-2 in their final match. The draw allowed Bayern Munich, who beat Cologne 2-1 to pip them to the title.
Real Madrid are currently top of Champions League Group C with a maximum six points from their opening two games.
