Manchester United are reportedly lining up a World Cup-winning midfield reinforcement after Casemiro’s recent injury.
The Brazilian sustained a hamstring injury during the Red Devils’ 3-0 loss to Newcastle that is expected to keep him on the sidelines for several weeks.
United managed to claim a crucial 1-0 victory against Fulham on Saturday in the 31-year-old’s absence but the club are reportedly still keen to bolster their options in the position.
According to Estadio Deportivo, Erik ten Hag’s side are considering a swoop for Real Betis anchorman Guido Rodriguez.
The 29-year-old, who was part of Argentina’s World Cup winning squad last December, is out of contract next summer, allowing him to negotiate a future deal from January.

The Red Devils are said to be keen on bringing in Real Betis’ Guido Rodriguez as a replacement
Rodriguez is a key player for the LaLiga outfit and has featured in 11 of their first 12 games which have seen the side make a steady start to the campaign to sit in sixth place.
The defensive midfielder would compliment Ten Hag’s options which currently include the likes of Christian Eriksen, Mason Mount and Scott McTominay and summer recruit Sofyan Amrabat.
Rodriguez has been at the Estadio Benito Villamarín since 2019 following his breakthrough at River Plate. The midfielder also spent time in the Mexican top-flight with Club Tijuana and Club America.
United are likely to face competition for his signature with Barcelona reported to be interested in luring him to the Camp Nou as they focus their attention on free agents and loan deals amid their financial issues.
Rodriguez was part of Argentina’s squad that won the 2022 World Cup in Qatar last year
