Man Utd are making huge changes ahead of Sir Jim Ratcliffe coming into the club | Football Digest
Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag singled out Harry Maguire and three other players for specific praise in the dressing room following their 1-0 win over Fulham earlier this month. Captain Bruno Fernandes scored the only goal of the game but the Dutchman insisted that a quartet deserved to be mentioned in a positive light after a disappointing start to the season.
ESPN have claimed that in the dressing room after Fernandes’ stoppage-time effort sealed all three points at Craven Cottage, Ten Hag picked out Maguire, Scott McTominay, Jonny Evans and Alejandro Garnacho as players he was particularly proud of.
He praised the quartet’s fighting spirit amongst the rest of the group as the Red Devils have begun to find some form in the Premier League, despite sitting sixth with 13 goals in 12 games.
As some members of the team have been criticised for their lack of commitment, Maguire in particular is a player that Ten Hag now feels that he trusts and can rely on having been restored to the starting lineup.

The relationship between Ten Hag and Maguire has not always been perfect, as the 30-year-old had his captaincy stripped and handed to Fernandes after falling so far down the pecking order that Luke Shaw was preferred at centre-back.
But now they appear closer than ever after Maguire was singled out in the dressing room as one of Ten Hag’s fighters while also being praised in the media. “I have to say Harry is playing like we want him to play,” Ten Hag said after victory over Sheffield United in October.
“Very proactive out of possession, dominating his opponent, stepping in when necessary, reading the game, good covering but also in possession very proactive, stepping in, delivering good passes, switching, yes, I am happy with his performance.”
