Man Utd fans fume ‘we’re finished’ as Erik ten Hag considers Tottenham ‘reject’

Manchester United fans have been left fuming by transfer links to Tottenham's Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.

The Old Trafford faithful have reacted to a report that states the Denmark international has been offered to the club as they look to sign a new central midfielder before deadline day.

Fans, who remain keen on Fiorentina's Sofyan Amrabat, have not reacted well to to news with the club reportedly 'considering' the 28-year-old who almost joined Atletico Madrid for £30million earlier this summer.

One fan posted: "We really a joke of a club, Amrabat is there but we going for Holberg lol." A second added: Keane was right! We are the new Spurs.

"Such a dead club, should have just kept Fred. How is this an upgrade when Spurs don’t even want him? #MUFC are finished."

Under the Telegraph report, a third comment read: "Our player identification is appalling." A fourth continued: "Downgrade on Fred who we sold for next to nothing."

A fifth added: "Another midfielder who can’t pass the ball or keep it lol." A calmer fan concluded: "It literally says we've been offered the chance sigh him."

Hojbjerg is behind Yves Bissouma and Pape Sarr in the pecking order under Ange Postecoglou at Spurs, coming off the bench against both United and Bournemouth.

His current deal at the club runs until 2025, having made 146 appearances for the club since a 2020 arrival from Southampton.

Fans have also pointed out that Ten Hag and Hojbjerg have worked together before, during the Dutchman's time as boss at Bayern Munich II.

United have had a mixed start to the season with controversial wins over both Wolves and Nottingham Forest either side of defeat at Spurs.

Ten Hag's men sit eighth in the table after three fixtures, with a return to Champions League football on the horizon.

United will find out their group opponents later this week, with the UEFA draw taking place on Thursday (August 31).
