Man Utd sent Jadon Sancho clear message before axe to leave Tottenham on alert

Jadon Sancho to train away from Man Utd squad until ‘discipline issue’ resolved

Manchester United sent a clear message to Jadon Sancho before he refused to apologise to Erik ten Hag in showdown talks this week. The Red Devils have seemingly set their asking price for Sancho as he nears the Old Trafford exit door after burning bridges with his manager and teammates.

If previous players banished from the first team suggest anything, it’s that Sancho is on borrowed time at United after publicly aiming fire at Ten Hag earlier this month.

Cristiano Ronaldo, Bastian Schweinsteiger and Victor Valdes all left the club shortly after facing disciplinary action.

And Sancho is reportedly open to a January exit after effectively calling Ten Hag a liar after his exclusion from the 3-1 defeat at Arsenal before the international break.

United made it clear that the feeling over a transfer was mutual by welcoming interest from Saudi Arabia before the deadline last week.

The Red Devils were open to sending Sancho to Steven Gerrard’s Al Ettifaq on a season-long loan but wanted to include an obligation to buy worth £50million.

And when Tottenham Hotspur reportedly inquired about the 23-year-old winger earlier in the summer, United also quoted £50m as the asking price.

It’s made it apparent that United are willing to take a significant hit on the £73m they splashed to sign Sancho from Borussia Dortmund in 2021.

Ten Hag has introduced a ruthless mentality at Old Trafford. Any player who steps out of line won’t go unpunished.

Even United’s star attacker Marcus Rashford felt his wrath due to lateness last season, being dropped to the bench at Wolves as a punishment.

Rashford took it on the chin and came out the other side looking strong, netting the winner in a 1-0 triumph at Molineux.

If Sancho understood the positive influence of a no-nonsense coach at one of the world’s biggest clubs, the right-wing position would be at his mercy.

Days after his explosive social media statement questioning Ten Hag, United confirmed that Antony had mutually agreed a leave of absence.

Ten Hag’s first-choice right-winger is addressing abuse allegations made against him in Brazilian media, which he strongly denies.

But Sancho stepped out of line by challenging Ten Hag’s authority, and it has done more damage than ruling him out of Saturday’s clash with Brighton and Hove Albion.

If the public spat didn’t push him toward the exit door, his refusal to kiss and make up with Ten Hag certainly has. And United have confirmed that by the steps they are taking.
