Seven Man Utd transfers Sir Jim Ratcliffe wants answers for as trio set for January exits
Manchester United have reportedly made a call on the futures of Antony, Sofyan Amrabat and Mason Mount. The trio have struggled for form and regular game time so far this season, but manager Erik ten Hag has no plans to send them elsewhere in the January transfer window.
Antony has failed to deliver since linking up with Ten Hag at Old Trafford, despite the pair’s partnership previously coming up trumps at Ajax. The Brazilian’s 10 Premier League appearances this season have not produced a single goal contribution.
Mount’s lack of impact on the side has also left fans frustrated. The 24-year-old was seen as a low-risk signing when he arrived from Chelsea in the summer, but injuries and a string of ineffective performances have limited him to only four Premier League starts.
Amrabat caught the eye at last year’s World Cup with Morocco, but he has been unable to replicate that form at Old Trafford, where Kobbie Mainoo and Scott McTominay currently lay claim to the two defensive midfield spots.

Despite the trio’s shortfalls, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano claims that there are no plans to send them elsewhere in January. Instead, senior figures at Old Trafford are prepared to be patient while they find their feet.
There had been talk of Antony going on loan to Flamengo in his native Brazil, but it appears as though the £84million man will remain part of the Red Devils’ top-four push.

United were handed a reality check on Saturday as Newcastle outclassed them at St James’ Park to earn a 1-0 win. Anthony Gordon’s second-half strike decided the contest, in which the Red Devils registered just one shot on target.
None of Mount, Amrabat or Antony made the starting XI on Tyneside, and the latter duo’s introduction from the bench failed to turn the tide in United’s favour. But Ten Hag’s anger seemed to be directed towards Anthony Martial as a fiery row was picked up by cameras during the defeat.
“It’s not about Anthony Martial; it’s about the team,” Ten Hag explained after the game. “I try to energise the team and try to get a reaction from the team in this moment. As you see, we had a tough period and when you’re coaching, you are a little more aggressive, so that’s normal.”
The manager won’t have long to galvanise his players ahead of Chelsea’s visit to Old Trafford on Wednesday night, with the Blues buoyed by a spirited win over Brighton last time out.
