The midfielder has missed the Red Devils’ last two games due to a hamstring injury, sitting out the win over Nottingham Forest and the defeat at Arsenal.

The 24-year-old has been left out of England’s squad as a result but the problem is not set to keep him out for much longer.

The Athletic report that Mount is targeting the trip to Bavaria for his return, meaning he will miss the Premier League clash with Brighton at Old Trafford on 16 September, but hopes to be back four days later.

The report states that a scan on the injury suggests the problem is not especially serious and the England international has avoided a lengthy lay-off.

Mount has more competition in the United midfield than he did when he picked up the injury in defeat to Tottenham on 19 August due to the arrival of Sofyan Amrabat.

The Morocco international has arrived on loan from Fiorentina, and despite also missing the current international break fixtures due to injury, is expected to be available when the Red Devils return to action.

It was a pretty underwhelming start to his career with Manchester United for Mount, playing in the narrow win over Wolves in the opening game of the season and then in the defeat to Spurs.

After his £60m move from Chelsea over the summer, he will be looking to make much more of an impact when his hamstring problem clears up.
