Mason Greenwood unveiled in Madrid to cheers from Getafe fans
Manchester United have undergone a massive transformation since Mason Greenwood last put on the red shirt 19 months ago against West Ham. Not only do the Red Devils have a new manager in the dugout in Erik ten Hag, who succeeded interim coach Ralf Rangnick, there have been several big names heading out the doors of Old Trafford, including Greenwood himself. Express Sport looks at the 20-man match-day squad the last time the 21-year-old walked out onto the pitch for United in January 2022…
David de Gea: The Spanish goalkeeper was released this summer after spending 12 years at Old Trafford and is still yet to find a new club.
Diogo Dalot: Remains a key part of Erik ten Hag’s set-up and is arguably first-choice at right-back over Aaron Wan-Bissaka when everyone is fit.
Harry Maguire: The England international was stripped of captaincy and snubbed a summer £30million move to West Ham, which may have been a mistake in hindsight.
Raphael Varane: An integral figure in the back-line but his injury problems often put the Frenchman in and out of the team.
Alex Telles: The left-back lasted only one season before heading on loan to Sevilla. Now in Saudi Arabia after signing for Al-Nassr.

Fred: The Brazilian saw his role in the team diminish after Casemiro’s arrival and he left for Fenerbahce this summer.
Scott McTominay: He may be one of the top scorers in Euro 2024 qualifying but the 26-year-old only features in a bit-part role now.
Mason Greenwood: Farmed out on loan to Getafe and hadn’t played in 603 days since featuring against West Ham before his debut on Sunday against Osasuna.
Bruno Fernandes: Took over the captaincy from Maguire this summer and one of the first names on the team-sheet.

Dean Henderson: Sold to Crystal Palace for £20m after Ten Hag opted to bring in Andre Onana.
Phil Jones: Remains a free agent after he was finally released following years of injury problems and sitting on the sidelines.
Nemanja Matic: The Serbian decided to join former boss Jose Mourinho at Roma before sealing a move to Ligue 1 outfit Rennes in August.
Donny van de Beek: The Dutchman came close to a loan switch to Real Sociedad but ended up staying beyond the transfer deadline.
Jesse Lingard: Still a free agent, the former United midfielder has been linked with Everton and West Ham.
Juan Mata: A popular member of the United squad, Mata won the Turkish Super Lig with Galatasaray before heading to Japan with Vissel Kobe.
Marcus Rashford: Arguably the player who has undergone the biggest transformation over the past 18 months. Now a regular starter for United and scored 30 goals in all competitions in 2022-23.
Edinson Cavani: The Uruguayan striker was a useful back-up striker in his first season but soon found himself surplus to requirements. Now with Valencia in Spain.
Anthony Martial: Martial looks destined to leave the club next summer after the arrival of £72m striker Rasmus Hojlund demoted him to back-up.
