Marcus Rashford’s football agent brother is accused of striking his girlfriend in the face after allegedly uncovering text message conversations with another man on her phone, a Florida police report claims. Dane Rashford was arrested in Florida on October 20 after an alleged altercation at the Kimpton Angler’s hotel in Miami Beach. He has denied the charge of misdemeanour of battery.
Officers who arrived outside room 335 of the hotel heard a “verbal altercation”, the report says. They identified the individuals as 31-year-old Rashford and the mother of his 14-month-old child, Andrea Pocrnja.
A police report alleges that Rashford and Pocrnja were returning from E11even, a popular Miami nightspot, when he went through the alleged victim’s phone and uncovered a conversation with another man.
“The arrestee stated that he pushed the victim while they were in the Uber,” the report states. It claims that the alleged victim was on the bed crying and had “visible injuries to her face”.
“The victim stated that the arrestee struck her in the face twice with a closed fist. The arrestee then got out of the Uber and walked away with the victim’s phone,” the report continues. “Once the victim was inside their hotel room, the arrestee entered the hotel room and a verbal argument ensued in regard to the text messages he saw on her phone.

According to the police report, Chantelle Maynard, Rashford’s sister, was babysitting the couple’s toddler and was in the hotel room when the altercation occurred. She allegedly witnessed Rashford kicking a closet door and causing visible damage but “did not see the arrestee strike the victim at any point”.
Rashford was reportedly taken to jail at 3:30am. Pocrnja meanwhile is understood to have been taken to another hotel room because she felt “unsafe”.
Rashford was reportedly ordered not to have any contact with the alleged victim. The complaint adds that her injuries were photographed by police and she was treated by a first responder, but the report doesn’t say she was taken to hospital.
Rashford was released on a $1,500 (£1,222) cash bond, allegedly paid for by Chantelle Maynard. He submitted a written plea of not guilty to battery misdemeanour, which has been further defined as domestic violence, and is scheduled to be in court for an arraignment on November 27.
According to Miami-Dade County police records, Rashford’s cash bond was paid for a week after his arrest. However, Daysi Vega-Mendez, the assistant state prosecutor for Miami Dade County, told The Telegraph that it is unclear whether Rashford is still in the United States.

“The case is still active, at the moment I haven’t been able to get hold of the victim. Our office is trying to get hold of the UK Embassy because we need permission to speak to the victim,” they said.
“I am not sure whether they are still in the United States or if they have left the country. I understand they were on vacation. Technically once you are charged you are not supposed to leave the country. When a person is given a bond, if they leave, they surrender that bond.”
News of Dane’s arrest broke minutes after his brother Marcus’s Manchester United were beaten 4-3 by Copenhagen in the Champions League. Forward Rashford was sent off in the first half.
