Mohamed Salah has reportedly shown ‘no indication’ that he wants to force through an exit from Liverpool for the riches of the Saudi Pro League after the Reds rejected an offer worth £150million. Saudi Arabian clubs have shaken up the transfer market this summer, offering huge contracts to some of Europe’s best players.
The likes of Neymar, Karim Benzema and N’Golo Kante have joined Cristiano Ronaldo in making the switch to the Gulf state. Kylian Mbappe rejected the chance to join the elite group in moving to Saudi Arabia earlier this summer.
But the Saudis aren’t content as they’ve since moved their focus to Liverpool superstar Salah. Al Ittihad had been making a strong pitch to try and sign Salah despite Jurgen Klopp’s insistence that the player was not for sale.
And the Saudi Pro League side made a formal bid worth up to £150m on Friday, just hours before the Premier League deadline. Liverpool immediately rejected the offer with no inclination that they’d accept an improved bid either.
Salah is also reportedly not pushing for a move away from Anfield, despite the huge contract he’s being offered. The Egypt international is Liverpool’s highest-paid player on wages worth around £350,000-a-week.
But Liverpool may be able to rest easy in the coming days judging by Salah’s behaviour behind the scenes. His current position of not pushing for a move away indicates that Al Ittihad will have to wait at least until next year to try again.
Salah still has two years left on his contract and Liverpool may be more inclined to listen to offers next summer when the Egyptian star will be 32 years of age. Klopp also appears relaxed about Salah’s immediate future at Anfield despite the Saudi Pro League clubs being able to do business up until September 20.

“From my point of view, I see absolutely nothing to worry about. Mo is super committed,” Klopp said. “He’s really in training fully there, in the leadership meetings this week, he is fully in. All good, we are here and everything is fine.”
Salah was ‘very disappointed’ three years ago when he was snubbed in favour of Trent Alexander-Arnold for the captain’s armband in a Champions League match against Midtjylland. He’s now a part of the ‘leadership group’ at Liverpool, but is still behind both Virgil van Dijk and Alexander-Arnold in the pecking order.
However, it appears as though Salah is content with his current standing at Liverpool given his attitude behind the scenes. Liverpool will be hoping that continues at least for another few weeks while the Saudi transfer window remains open.
