Gary Neville has confirmed that he’s signed an ‘interim deal’ to join BBC hit show Dragons’ Den, in a tongue-in-cheek video on social media.
It was announced in October that the former Manchester United star and Sky Sports pundit would be a guest judge on the show.
Neville has an estimated wealth of £20m from his former footballing career, TV work and property investments in Manchester.
He has now shared a video of himself on the Dragons’ Den studio where he jokingly compares walking out of the show’s famous lift to walking out at Old Trafford and Wembley, and even claims he turned down offers from abroad to join the show.
‘So I’m absolutely delighted to join the Dragon’ Den even if it is only for a very short period on an interim contract. I’m used to being an interim coach,’ he said in the video on social media platform X.

‘I’m going to bring character, personality, drive, determination, hard work, all the things you’d want in a team player.
‘The thing that made me sign for Dragons’ Den was that, look, I had so many options on the table. I had offers from the US, I had offers from Asia but I decided to stay at home, where my roots are and sign.’
The video then shows Neville’s picture being hung up on the wall next to Dragons’ Den experts past and present, which he said: ‘To see my picture up on the wall in that hall of fame is one of the great moments in my career.
‘Walking through those lift doors is going to be like walking out at Old Trafford as a 19-year-old. Those lift doors are more famous than the Wembley tunnel.
‘To follow in the footsteps of legends in the game like the (Duncan) Bannatynes of this world, the (Tej) Lalvanis, is something that I could never have imagined.
‘This team that I’m joining has absolutely massive capabilities. Entrepreneurial skills, the flash centre forward, you can guess who that is.’
He even used the opportunity to take a shot at long-time co-pundit on Sky Sports Jamie Carragher, as he said: ‘To work alongside people who’ve got a little bit of an intelligence will be a new thing for me. Sorry Carra.’
His appearance has unsurprisingly caught attention on social media, with one person asking: ‘Can he do a better job than he did at Valencia?’
Neville has an estimated worth of £20m – which despite having an impressive list of property investments, is considerably less than the other Dragons
He said walking out of the lift at the show will be like walking out at Old Trafford or Wembley
While somebody else commented: ‘Gary Neville being on Dragons’ Den is just so, so Gary Neville.’
Neville, will appear alongside regular tycoons Peter Jones, Deborah Meaden, Touker Suleyman, Sara Davies and Steven Bartlett during series 21 of the show which will be released sometime in 2024.
The 48-year-old owns Salford City along with a number of his former Man United team-mates and began getting into property development in his 20s – now owning a chain of hotels and townhouses.
These include Hotel Football, which overlooks Old Trafford and the Stock Exchange Hotel near Piccadilly Gardens.
He also joked it will be a new thing to work with someone who has ‘a bit of intelligence’
