A new angle of Bayern Munich’s goal has seen Manchester United fans’ concerns over Andre Onana increase.
Manchester United were beaten 1-0 by Bayern Munich on Tuesday night in the Champions League with Kingsley Coman’s second-half goal dumping Erik ten Hag’s side out of Europe completely. A woeful European campaign for the Red Devils lurched from calamity to disaster and eventually, the clock run out on them as boos echoed around Old Trafford at full-time.
One player in particular has endured the most criticism during United’s doomed group stage, with Onana conceding 15 goals in just six games – the most of by any English club that has played in the competition.

The Cameroonian’s catalogue of errors in Europe includes blunders against Bayern at the Allianz and both of United’s crucial games against Galatasaray. And some United fans have also scrutinised his bizarre positioning for Coman’s goal on Tuesday.
By the time of the goal, Bayern had completely taken charge of the game and intricate play around the edge of the box saw Harry Kane flick a pass in behind for Coman to reach. The Frenchman found himself one-on-one with Onana just eight yards out, and while the keeper decided not to come off his line to close down the angle, he instead attempted to predict where Coman’s shot would go.

Before Coman had even controlled the ball and got his head up, Onana had taken a step to his left and caused himself to stumble off balance. As the Bayern man unleashed his shot, Onana was halfway between the post and the middle of the goal, leaving the winger the whole right-hand side of the goal open.
Fans on Twitter reacted to the new footage, one said: “The goal is even worse from this angle. What is Onana doing”, a second added: “Onana knows you can close down the attacker right?” With a third adding: “He should have been out of his line as soon as the through pass went through.”
However, other United fans jumped to Onana’s defence, one said: “If you understand football, you can see that he is expecting a shot on the first touch,” a second wrote: “It’s easy explained he thinks he’s hitting it first time and going near post but he doesn’t.” Whilst a third added: “Onana made too many mistakes, but this isn't one of them.”
