Newcastle United defender Dan Burn revealed he only has three shirts in his collection – and all of them are from surprising ex-Premier League players.
Burn admitted that he wasn’t interested in swapping shirts with any PSG players after the Magpies' historic 4-1 win on Wednesday night. The Blyth hero scored the second of the night for his boyhood club as they enjoyed a night for the history book by putting the 2020 Champions League runners-up to the sword in the first Champions League game at St James’ Park since March 2003.
The 31-year-old faced up against France superstars Kylian Mbappe and Ousmane Dembele, but the local lad decided he didn’t need either of their shirts to remember the night. Instead, Kieran Trippier took home the former’s shirt for his son.

Burn was asked whether any of the Newcastle players were able to swap shirts with any PSG players for memorabilia on their historic win, he replied: “I’m not sure, you’ll have to ask.
“But I’m sure there would be a few of the lad's kids definitely would’ve got a shirt. I think it’s funny now about shirts now, you just go on YouTube and see you’re playing against them. I haven’t asked for anyone’s shirt anyway.

“I’ve got a canny collection, I’ve got Peter Crouch’s (shirt), Per Mertesacker and Wayne Routledge, they’re the only three ones I’ve got. I’m happy, got them framed on the wall!”
Burn’s bizarre collection comes from players who he would’ve faced during the earlier days of his career, with Crouch retiring in 2019, Mertesacker left Arsenal in 2018 after seven years at the club and Routledge called time on his journeyman career in 2021.
A match up of giants Crouch and Burn today would be an intriguing battle with both standing at 6’7ft, while Mertesacker at 6’6ft rivals Burn as one of the tallest defenders to have played in England’s top flight. But the Swansea icon, who is only 5’7ft doesn’t quite fit the trend of Burn’s tall wall.
