Sky Sports’ new ‘game mode’ camera angle received mixed reviews with some fans saying it’s “like watching Pro Evolution Soccer.”
The Premier League broadcaster introduced the new viewing mode for Arsenal ’s clash against Manchester City. Officials from the decision said the new mode was a “exciting” way to watch the game.
Instead of the standard fixed multi-camera position all fans have come accustomed to, the ‘game mode’ camera used a gantry level 'rail-cam' which moved in a swivel like manner, altering camera angles and changing direction depending on the direction and position of the ball. As is the case with all new things, it received mixed reviews online.

“What is this new camera that Sky Sports are using? Makes me feel like I’m watching my mate play an old PES game,” one relatively confused supporter said.
“This new camera angle malarkey on Sky is mildly discombobulating,” added another fan, who also uploaded a GIF of Simpsons’ character Bart Simpson looking dizzy. A third added: “the new sky sports football camera angle feels like FIFA,” before one fan added: “this new camera angle Sky are using is actually horrendous.”

However, that was not the view of all fans as one supporter wrote: “Sky Sports football camera angle is sick. Need every game like this from now on.” A second fan of the new mode also wrote: “May be the minority but feel like I prefer the new camera angle on Sky Sports Football for the footy. Seeing more of the pitch and movement off the ball rather just following it is different but all for it.”
When asked about the new system, Premier League head of media operations and innovation, Rachael Nightingale, said: “The Premier League is always looking for ways to enhance the broadcast experience for fans around the world.
As well as the Champions League, TNT Sports will also be offering sports fans access to games across the Premier League, Europa League, Serie A and much more.
You can also watch the biggest events in boxing, UFC, WWE and get exclusive action from MLB.

“During this period of testing with Sky Sports and Arsenal, we hope ‘Game Mode’ will provide a new and exciting way to enjoy the action at home.”
The sentiments were also followed by Sky Sports director of production, Phil Marshall, who added: “We’re very excited to see what ‘Game Mode’ can bring to the overall viewing experience for fans and believe it has great potential when it comes to in-game innovation. We thank Arsenal and the Premier League for their support in testing this innovation.”
