The late Terry Venables was nothing if not unselfish – as he once proved with the release of a swing track called 'England Crazy'.
In an effort to inspire England to success at the 2002 World Cup, the former Tottenham and Barcelona boss played an unexpected role in the national team's build-up to the tournament. That included singing and dancing around some of London's most famous landmarks in a tuxedo, while flanked by two cabaret girls in red leotards.
Anything in the name of his country, and all that. The world was shocked to learn of Venables' death at 80 years old on Sunday following a long illness, with fans flocking to celebrate his footballing highlights.

And singing his way around the capital with two beautiful women and a double-decker bus carrying a mini-orchestra certainly counts. Even if his single release with boy band Rider did only peak at No46 in the UK charts.
England did impress somewhat that summer in Japan and South Korea, too, where they finished second to Sweden in their group before beating Denmark 3-0 in the last 16. They came off second-best against eventual champions Brazil in the quarter-finals, however.

Sven-Goran Eriksson's side got their World Cup revenge over Argentina that year as captain David Beckham converted a penalty to secure their sole group win. Beckham was previously handed an infamous red card for kicking out at Diego Simeone at the 1998 edition as the Three Lions were ousted on penalties.
As for the complexities of the song, England Crazy was pretty straightforward. Venables' release featured a loop of: "Everybody loves you, baby. We're all going England crazy."

'El Tel' came from a singing family and actually made the finals of a Butlins singing competition as a teenager before Chelsea stopped him from competing. However, he finally made that vision come true during his break from management in 2002.
Venables was back in the dugout just a couple of months after 'England Crazy' came out, joining Leeds in an ill-fated spell where he failed to last a full season. He later found his way back to the national team as an assistant to Steve McClaren in 2006, though he'd long since ditched the dancers and penguin suit.
