Forget the Hollywood stardom of Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney on Welcome to Wrexham – Dean Gaffney and Shaun Williamson are taking over at Basildon AFC.
From EastEnders to Essex with dreams of dragging Basildon AFC to the promised land of the Premier League, Gaffney and Williamson are ready to surpass the achievements of their Welsh counterparts.
Hollywood royalty Reynolds and McElhenney have transformed the fortunes of Wrexham and taken them back into the Football League with the EastEnders duo planning to do the same… but there is one slight problem.

During the first episode of the online docuseries – with the dynamic duo looking to 'diversify their brand'.
Williamson says: "Why do we want to buy Basildon?

Sky Sports is bringing you 500 live football games to watch, as well access to Cricket, Golf, F1, Boxing, NFL, NBA and more across eight dedicated channels. Sky Sports is the only way to watch all the action this year.

Williamson and Gaffney were household stars as Barry Evans and Robbie Jackson in the 90s on EastEnders – and they don't mind poking fun at themselves decades later.
The first episode of the skit was released on Monday, with the second set to follow on Tuesday (September 12) and third on Thursday (September 14).
The sideways look at non-league football also features an appearance of Jamie Redknapp, who will aim to assist the hapless owners.
Speaking about the new series, a spokesperson for Paddy Power revealed: "We paid Jamie Redknapp do a cameo and bless them, but I think Shaun and Dean found the Sky pundits appearance a little too convincing.
"Williamson is either the finest method actor we’ve ever come across, or he’s a little confused.
"I heard him do a phone-in to TalkSPORT radio the other night, and he seemed to think Basildon is the real deal."
