Conor McGregor was left in disbelief after he appeared to break a boxing punch machine as the UFC star’s proposed return to the cage draws closer.
McGregor hasn’t fought since he suffered a horror leg break against Dustin Poirier in round one of their July 2021 trilogy fight. But ‘the Notorious’ has shown that he’s ready to battle again after his punch was too powerful for a machine to even read.
The Irishman is set for a UFC return against Michael Chandler next year, and McGregor showed there’s still power in that left hand, despite the score reading an embarrassingly low number.

McGregor’s punch saw the punch bag fail to lock into place such was the power behind the strike, with the dropping back down to reveal a score of 'one.' As on lookers laughed at the bizarre score, McGregor turned to the camera and said: "Breaking the thing twice, number one baby all smashed up yeah.”
The former two-weight world champion returned for another go and recorded a score of 858 that definitely would’ve left him happy, given old foe Poirier scored 847 and welterweight champion Leon Edwards scored 843 on the same machine.
Do you think Conor McGregor will return to the cage in 2024? Let us know in the comments section.
McGregor’s delayed return to the cage has come after he wasn’t involved in the USADA drug testing pool, with fighters having to be in the pool up to six months before the fight, burying any chance McGregor’s return would be in 2023.
But UFC boss Dana White said recently that he expects McGregor to be officially back in the pool by next week, meaning the earliest he could return would be April 2024, White said: “He has submitted the paperwork so probably by Monday he will be submitted. Again, don't hold me to that but the paperwork is submitted so next week sometime.”
