John Fury has labelled Francis Ngannou’s open workout with Mike Tyson a ‘disgrace’ and ’embarrassing’ ahead of his professional boxing debut against Tyson Fury next month.
The former UFC heavyweight champion will face Fury, the current WBC heavyweight title holder, in Saudi Arabia on October 28.
Ngannou has enlisted the help of Mike Tyson to help his preparations for his fight with Fury.
But Fury’s father, John, was unimpressed with footage of Ngannou’s open workout and claims the 37-year-old MMA fighter ‘ain’t got a prayer’ against his son in a boxing ring.
‘Just seen Francis Ngannou and Mike Tyson and that so-called trainer what’s got the pads on, seen the open workout. I hope he’s kidding along and he’s playing possum here,’ Fury said Wednesday on Instagram.
‘But you know what? It’s got to be kidology, that. It’s got to be fun and games. Because if that’s what he’s got, well, God help him, he’ll get smashed to bits. That’s all I’m saying, mate. That’s embarrassing.
‘If that’s what he can do on a public workout, don’t bother doing a public workout. It’s a disgrace.’
Meanwhile, Mike Tyson believes Ngannou could use his strength as an advantage against Fury in the ring.
‘I don’t think he’s [Fury] going to be able to wrestle him,’ Tyson said.
‘I think Francis is a lot stronger than him, he’s going to push him around.’
