WATCH OUT FOR…
ORNE (Newmarket, 12.27)
Promising Newmarket run three weeks ago. The Gosdens have been encouraged by his progress and he can use this to go on to better things.
JOCKEY TO FOLLOW
DAVID BASS resumes long-term partnerships with FIRST FLOW (Ascot, 2.05) and TWO FOR GOLD (Ascot, 3.45). First Flow is advancing in years but, on his best form, he would dismantle this field. He loves Ascot, too.
WHAT’S IN A NAME
SCARFACE (Ascot, 1.30)
The movie launched Al Pacino into the realms of Hollywood legends. Hit the screens in 1983, directed by Brian De Palma and written by Oliver Stone, Scarface is based on a novel of the same name in 1929. It tells the story of Tony Montana, the Cuban refugee who arrived in Miami and ends up a drug lord.
WATCH OUT FOR…
AHOY SENOR (Wetherby, 3.00)
Things never quite worked for him in this race 12 months ago but Lucinda Russell’s yard is in top form and he will bounce out and put it up to his rivals.
FAB FOR FAVOURITES
Six jollies have won the 1.37 at Newmarket in the past decade. New Chelsea carries that burden today.

Robin Goodfellow Best Bets – by Steve Ryder
With doubts surrounding last year’s winner Bravemansgame on the testing ground and the poor record fresh of Ahoy Senor, it looks worth taking a chance on the Irish raider Gentlemansgame (NAP) in the Charlie Hall Chase at Wetherby (3.0).
The Mouse Morris-trained seven-year-old beat the subsequent Irish Grand National winner I Am Maximus on his chasing debut before returning from 276 days off the track to finish second behind Easy Game in the Grade Two PWC Champion Chase at Gowran over 2m4f on heavy ground.
The gelding is unexposed over fences, having only had those two runs, but should relish these conditions and he can take advantage of his fitness edge over his three rivals. Elsewhere at Newmarket (1.37), It’s Not Risky (NB) is interesting off an opening mark of 66 in a nursery for the first time, having run three times over 7f.
He steps up in trip to 1m 1f on his first run since a gelding operation and connections also fit him with first-time cheekpieces for this race.

1.02 NEWMARKET
COLD STARE was a beaten favourite 32 days ago but had been in good form prior to that, including a close second in the Ayr Bronze Cup. He’ll relish today’s conditions.
2.10 NEWMARKET
The progressive CITY OF YORK (nap) readily brushed aside the reopposing Metal Merchant on testing ground at Newbury last time to take his record on turf to 2-2.
4.30 CHELMSFORD
URBAN SPRAWL, who finished third in the Britannia Stakes at Royal Ascot, can build on two recent placed efforts on the All Weather and will race off bottom weight today.
9.50 SANTA ANITA
The presence of a strong European contingent means UP TO THE MARK has been somewhat overlooked in the betting. He has won three consecutive Grade Ones in really good style.
