Max Verstappen sent offer to quit Red Bull and join F1 rival keen to be his team-mate

The Red Bull star, who had won 10 Grands Prix on the spin before lights out at the Marina Bay Street Circuit, could only manage fifth in Singapore after starting in P11. The result marked the end of Red Bull’s bid to win every race in the 2023 season.
Carlos Sainz became the first driver other than Verstappen or Sergio Perez to win a race this year by holding off a late challenge from George Russell and Lewis Hamilton. The Ferrari star had a little help from Lando Norris, who matched his best-ever F1 result by taking the chequered flag in second.

Brundle baffled by Verstappen ruling
F1 pundit Martin Brundle has been left perplexed after Max Verstappen escaped punishment for impeding Yuki Tsunoda in Singapore Grand Prix qualifying.
Brundle believes that even Verstappen and his Red Bull team will have been shocked by the ruling, which occurred during a troubled qualifying session for the Dutchman.
“Quite how Max Verstappen didn’t also get a penalty for impeding Yuki Tsunoda in qualifying when considering other penalties applied this season was a great surprise to many in the paddock, which I confidently predict includes the team and driver in question,” wrote Brundle in his Sky Sports column.
“That Tsunoda’s Alpha Tauri team didn’t send a representative to the hearing, albeit as the junior Red Bull team, was a sporting disappointment to me.”
Red Bull prepare contract announcement
Red Bull are reportedly preparing to finalise a new contract for AlphaTauri star Yuki Tsunoda before the Japanese Grand Prix.
The 23-year-old has been with Red Bull’s junior team since the start of the 2021 season.
And according to Auto Motor und Sport, he will be given a new deal to continue racing in 2024.
Tsunoda has endured a miserable last two races as a malfunction prevented him from starting in Monza, and another issue saw him retire early in Singapore.
The youngster has only managed to put three points on the board so far this season.
