Seven Man Utd transfers Sir Jim Ratcliffe wants answers for as trio set for January exits
Manchester United are reportedly braced for a fresh transfer offer from Getafe for Mason Greenwood. The academy graduate is currently out on loan with the La Liga outfit and with the Red Devils keen to offload the forward permanently, his spell at the club could be extended.
In February, the Crown Prosecution Services dropped charges of attempted rape, coercive behaviour and assault against the United forward due to the withdrawal of key witnesses and ‘new material’ coming to light. Greenwood denied all of the charges.
The Red Devils then conducted their own internal investigation into the England international and after a six-month review, it was ruled that Greenwood would leave the club to get his career back on track elsewhere – with United insisting that they would provide him with continued support.
After a series of transfer approaches late in the window, Getafe pounced to strike a deadline day loan deal for the 22-year-old and he has not looked back since. Greenwood has hit the ground running in his new surroundings, scoring three goals in 10 appearances and earning plenty of plaudits from the Spanish media.

Getafe are ecstatic with how their new No 12 is performing, especially as they are not even paying the entirety of his wages. The La Liga outfit are so impressed with Greenwood that they are reportedly hoping to strike a deal with United that will see him stay at the club beyond this season.
According to Diario AS, Getafe are keen to extend the forward’s loan by at least another season and are set to open talks with United soon to explore the possibility of a second loan spell. The coaching staff at the club are said to be ‘very happy’ with Greenwood and feel that he is performing at a level that will help his side improve considerably.

Greenwood has proven to be a very versatile asset for manager Pepe Bordalas, playing as a lone No 9, as a second striker and also on both wings as Getafe look to push up the table and make amends for a shaky start to the campaign.
It remains to be seen whether United are willing to extend Greenwood’s loan spell or if they will look to cash in on his services during the summer to fund their own spending spree. Erik ten Hag is keen to sign a forward of his own at Old Trafford and loaning a player out rather than selling could be counter-productive to the Dutchman’s transfer window hopes.
