Griezmann managing Championship side on FM24 – and already has them in Prem

Antoine Griezmann has shed light on his brilliant new Football Manager project with Blackburn Rovers.

The Atletico Madrid forward may be one of the biggest stars of the last decade – but that does not mean he is not a football nerd like the rest of us. Griezmann gushed about his Newcastle save on FM back in 2021, revealing he had signed compatriot Kylian Mbappe for the Magpies even before their takeover.

But the 32-year-old Frenchman has now turned his attention to guiding Championship outfit Blackburn to glory on FM24. He claimed he impressively won promotion and has since taken the side to sixth in the Premier League.

He told ESPN: “I'm in the First Division, in sixth place. The board are very happy. They want to renew my contract.”

Griezmann was then asked about his star summer signing, to which he responded: “Ooft, a young right back who was at Liverpool. He's Scottish, but I can't remember the name!”

His key acquisition turned out to be Liverpool defender Calvin Ramsay, currently on loan at Preston North End. Ramsay's progress has not been quite as scintillating in the Championship this season due to a knee injury.

Griezmann has been in sensational form himself over the past two seasons since returning to Atletico. He has 14 goals in 21 appearances this term, but recently dropped a huge hint regarding his future.

The 2018 World Cup winner said: “I want this to be my last club in Europe, and then to enjoy elsewhere. I want to continue here. I’m at the level that my team needs of me.

“I’m playing well. Let’s see if there’s a chance to continue on, but of course, there are lots of other players here, so we’ll see.”
