Micah Richards ‘roleplays Superman’ with dive that has Carragher in disbelief

Micah Richards was savagely trolled by Jamie Carragher and Thierry Henry for a ‘superman’ dive during his playing days.

The former Manchester City and England defender was left speechless on CBS Sports’ coverage of City’s 3-2 win away at Crvena zvezda after an embarrassing dive he made during a game between Aston Villa and Stoke City was brought up and laughed at by his fellow pundits.

Following City’s Champions League win on Tuesday night thanks to goals from youngsters Micah Hamilton, Oscar Bobb and Kalvin Phillips, Carragher seemingly took issue with a theatrical dive from Hamilton as he launched himself through the air after a tug on his shirt. The Liverpool legend's over-the-top criticism sparking debate between him and Richards over whether the incident was a dive or not.

However, it was all a set up, as Carra didn’t pin the blame solely at the door of the City youngster, saying: “When you think of his name, he obviously looks up to you (Richards), where do you think he got it from? Where do you think he learnt it from?”

CBS Sports' producers then seamlessly transitioned into a video of an infamous dive from Richards during his career, showing the defender at Villa chasing after his touch in the opposing penalty box, before launching himself through the air when ex-Stoke midfielder Glenn Whelan closed him down. As Richards was shown upside down with his legs in a straight line and his feet by the head of Whelan, the panel burst into laughter.

Carragher began shrieking over the video: “What are you doing?! What is that?! I’ve never seen anything like that, look where his boots are!” Whilst Henry sounded genuinely disappointed in the ex-England international, saying: “No, no, can we see that again, look at his leaps, what are you doing?” Richards could only sit in embarrassment while host Kate Abdo couldn’t hold back her laughter.

Fans also reacted to the panel showing Richards’ dive, with one comment saying: “Why is Micah Richards always getting cooked differently after UCL games??” A second said: “Bro looked like he was tryna roleplay superman.” A third added: “He landed on his lips FR”, while a fourth said: “Michael Phelps will be proud of that dive.”
