Reece James is reportedly a major doubt for Chelsea’s clash with Arsenal on Saturday.

The defender has only managed one appearance this season and suffered a hamstring injury in August which has set him back.

Mauricio Pochettino had been hoping to re-introduce his captain to Premier League action soon.

However, he has been withdrawn from group training sessions and is training alone, with his return likely to be delayed even further, as per the Evening Standard.

A full-blown injury crisis has hit the Blues like a sucker punch this season and they sit 11th in the table.

Alongside James, Ben Chilwell, Christopher Nkunku, Wesley Fofana, Trevoh Chalobah, Carney Chukwuemeka, Romeo Lavia, Marcus Bettinelli, and Axel Disasi are either out or major doubts.

Nicolas Jackson, Cole Palmer, and Benoit Badiashile all have question marks over their heads as well.

Against Bournemouth last month, they had just 15 fully fit first-team players to pick from.

Arsenal will prove unforgiving opponents in a London derby between two teams in opposite states of mind as they enjoy differing starts to the 2023-24 campaign.

While Chelsea are struggling for form in mid-table, the Gunners are second in the Premier League table on goals scored and are unbeaten in the top-flight so far this term.
