Ten Hag dealt TRIPLE injury blow ahead of Man United's game at Bayern

Erik ten Hag is dealt a TRIPLE injury blow ahead of Man United’s trip to face Bayern Munich with Harry Maguire, Raphael Varane and Mason Mount all absent – despite the trio training earlier today

  • Mason Mount, Raphael Varane and Harry Maguire all trained on Tuesday
  • However, they have all been left out of Man United’s squad to face Bayern

Mason Mount, Raphael Varane and Harry Maguire have all been left off Manchester United’s squad list for their Champions League clash with Bayern Munich tomorrow.

Mount and Varane returned to first team training on Tuesday morning, but have not recovered in time from their respective injuries to make the plane to Germany.

Maguire also trained with the squad but misses out, with United confirming he has picked up an unspecified injury.

The trio failing to make the trip represents more bad news for Erik ten Hag, who has watched his side lose three of their first five matches this season.

They were beaten 3-1 by Brighton on Saturday, with Gary Neville admitting his former club had been ‘dismantled’ by the Seagulls, as he raised concerns about the team’s start to the season.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka suffered a hamstring injury after coming off the bench in the latter stages of that game, and he is not expected to play again for ‘several weeks’.

He has now been joined on the sidelines by Mount, Varane and Maguire, while Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia are also long-term absentees.

Ten Hag can’t call upon Antony either, after the winger was given a leave of absence following abuse allegations made against him by multiple women.

Jadon Sancho remains out of the picture as well, with Ten Hag not considering him for selection until the England international apologises him for claiming on social media that he had been made a ‘scapegoat’ at the club.

Man United squad to face Bayern Munich

Goalkeepers: Altay Bayindir, Tom Heaton, Andre Onana, Radek Vitek

Defenders: Victor Lindelof, Lisandro Martinez, Sergio Reguilon, Diogo Dalot, Jonny Evans

Midfielders: Bruno Fernandes, Christian Eriksen, Casemiro, Facundo Pellistri, Scott McTominay, Dan Gore, Hannibal

Forwards: Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford, Rasmus Hojlund, Alejandro Garnacho, Omari Forson

Ten Hag may want to make changes to his starting XI given the side’s current form, but injuries mean his hands are somewhat tied.

He has only named five defenders, including Jonny Evans, in his 21-man squad, while his options in midfield and attack also appear limited.

Tom Heaton is back in the squad for the first time this season, as United named four goalkeepers in their travelling party.

United will be hoping to stop the rot by avoiding a third straight defeat in all competitions when they face Thomas Tuchel’s Bayern at the Allianz Arena, who are currently sitting second in the Bundesliga after taking 10 points from their opening four games.
