Virgil van Dijk delivered a brutal jab at Manchester United fan Harry Pinero over Liverpool's 7-0 thumping of his side last season.
The Liverpool defender is in his first season of captaining the club following the departure of Jordan Henderson to Saudi Pro League side, Al-Ettifaq, this summer. Despite missing two games this season due to a suspension, Van Dijk has enjoyed an unbeaten start as Liverpool sit second in the Premier League, just two points adrift of leaders Manchester City.
While it was a season to forget for Liverpool in the last campaign where they missed out on Champions League football, a 7-0 victory over Manchester United was the highlight of fans in an otherwise disappointing year for the club. The Netherlands international certainly hasn't forgotten the monumental result and made sure to remind presenter Harry Pinero of the drubbing his team was handed.

During an appearance on Pro:Direct Soccer's YouTube channel for their 'Guess the Song' game, alongside Pinero, a Manchester United fan, Van Dijk led the presenter 7-6 in the scores who exclaimed: "7-6, let's go!", before Van Dijk devastatingly responded with: "You like seven, no? Sorry." His response rendered Pinero speechless before he replied: "You lot call that shade? You like the seven, yeah? That was good, that was good. Well done."
He went on to tell the 32-year-old: "That was one of the worst days of my life and you were responsible for that" as the Reds captain, while laughing, told him: "I tried my best". The brutal jab by the defender was praised by some on social media as one fan wrote: "Trolling is an art and Virgil van Dijk has learnt it all" while there were some that didn't appreciate his words as one United fan commented: "They play in the Europa League….we play in the champions League…. levels".

Another Red Devils supporter urged his side to do the double over Liverpool to get back at Van Dijk's comments as he replied: "nahhhh we need to win both at home and away cuz thats too far mf". It's certainly been a difference in fortunes for the two sides this season as while Liverpool remain unbeaten in all competitions, Man United sit a lowly ninth in the league, having already lost three games.
Pinero and his fellow United fans will have the opportunity to reclaim bragging rights when the two teams meet at Anfield on December 16 and will face a tough test given they haven't won at the iconic ground since 2015 when Juan Mata's double secured a 2-1 victory for the visitors.
