Alexander Zverev will have the opportunity to get up close and personal with his Bayern Munich heroes when they face Manchester United in the Champions League next month. Zverev, who failed to reach the last four at the ATP Finals last week, is a huge supporter of the German champions and will get the ultimate fan experience for their upcoming trip to Old Trafford.
The 26-year-old hosted the Alexander Zverev Foundation’s evening gala in Germany on Tuesday night in a bid to raise money for children and young people with diabetes. One of the prizes on offer was the Bayern experience for the United game and Zverev shelled out £8,000 to ensure that he was the one who got it.
He will fly to Manchester on the same plane as the Bayern squad as part of the package, while he will also get to watch their final training session the day before the match. Afterwards, the former US Open finalist will get to share a traditional banquet with the players, which is standard practice for Bayern following a Champions League away day.
Zverev will be desperate to see the Bundesliga giants win against United in order to extend their unbeaten record in Europe this season. They are already guaranteed a place in the Champions League knockout stages after winning all four of their group games and qualifying for the next round with two matches to spare.

Zverev previously declared his support for Bayern despite being from Hamburg after visiting the club’s training ground following his Olympic triumph in 2021. He told their official website: “I have two favourite clubs. Internationally, at a really high level, it’s always been FC Bayern.
“My first jersey was an FC Bayern one, with Oliver Kahn on the back. As a Hamburg fan, I’m also a HSV fan, but FC Bayern is the biggest club in the world for me and also the one I follow the most.”

The former world No 2 has not shied away from giving his opinions on Bayern in the past and went public with his criticism when former boss Julian Nagelsmann was sacked earlier this year. He was replaced by Thomas Tuchel in March but Zverev was not best pleased as he urged Bayern’s decision-makers to exercise a higher degree of caution.
“I would have been more patient,” he said. “Even though Tuchel is one of the best coaches in the world, I don’t know how to fire Nagelsmann immediately, even though you’re still in three competitions. I found it all a bit hectic at FC Bayern in the last few weeks.”
