Man Utd train ahead of Bayern Munich clash
Manchester United chief executive Richard Arnold reportedly held a meeting on Monday to address club staff over issues they may have harboured over the treatment of several issues, including the situations with Mason Greenwood and Antony. The Red Devils have been in the spotlight and their actions scrutinised as Greenwood has left on loan to Getafe while Antony remains on a leave of absence.
The Telegraph have claimed that an extraordinary meeting was held as club staff were invited to put anonymous questions forward to Arnold, which were then addressed on a Zoom call. The handling of both the Greenwood and Antony scenarios were at the forefront of discussion, as United opted to axe Greenwood following a six-month investigation into his conduct.
Antony meanwhile remains away from the club amid allegations of domestic abuse. The ‘no-holds barred’ meeting saw staff demand answers regarding the club’s investigation into Greenwood, over material that was published online before his suspension in January 2022.
Arnold defended the process that led to a lengthy investigation that ended with Greenwood temporarily departing Old Trafford after a statement was issued claiming that the player would not feature for United again.
The club chief also reiterated that the final decision over Greenwood’s future was decided after the investigation. Both Greenwood and Antony have denied any wrongdoing, as United’s CEO was pressed by staff over the pair.

A dark cloud has emerged over Old Trafford to begin the season, with boss Erik ten Hag already beginning to come under pressure. There had been reports suggesting that there was unrest behind the scenes over summer recruitment, which saw Mason Mount, Andre Onana, Rasmus Hojlund, Sofyan Amrabat, Sergio Reguilon, Altay Bayindir and Jonny Evans join the club.
In an attempt to ease tension at the meeting, Arnold was insistent that those incomings will eventually prove to be smart acquisitions and there is faith that Ten Hag is the man to guide United back to the summit of the Premier League and European football – despite being sat 13th in the table after five matches, the latest of which saw them roundly defeated at home by a rotated Brighton side.

Further pressure could be piled on, however, as the Red Devils travel to Bayern Munich for their opening Champions League game of the season on Wednesday should they fail to get a positive result.
Arnold and co will be hoping that despite Ten Hag overseeing an injury crisis at the club, they can get their season back on track with a result in Germany.
That comes before United travel to Burnley on Saturday evening to face a side still looking for their first win since promotion to the top flight.
