Bayern Munich star Leroy Sane is reportedly on the verge of making a ‘fundamental decision’ on his future in Germany with Liverpool said to be monitoring his situation. Liverpool managed to keep Mohamed Salah out of the clutches of Saudi Arabia’s riches in the summer transfer window.
The Reds rejected an official bid from Al-Ittihad worth £150million with the Saudi club supposedly willing to go even higher. Reports have suggested the Gulf State will try again to lure Salah to the Middle East.
Liverpool won’t want to lose their star man midway through the campaign. But contingency plans are seemingly being made in case Liverpool are unable to keep hold of Salah in January.
Reports have indicated that Sane is their No 1 choice to replace Salah and are prepared to make him their most expensive signing of all time. Sane has already indicated in the past that he would love to work with Jurgen Klopp too.
And Bild claim the Germany international is unwilling to commit his future to Bayern at this moment in time. The report states that Sane wants to make a ‘fundamental decision’ on his future in the next few months.
It’s said that Bayern have not yet approached Sane to discuss a possible extension on his current deal. He has just under two years left on his contract at the Allianz Arena, but Bayern are reportedly keen to keep him at the club.

Sane has impressed under Thomas Tuchel this season, scoring seven goals in 11 matches across all competitions. He’s already close to beating his personal record of eight goals in a single Bundesliga campaign.
If Salah is sold by Liverpool then Klopp will need someone capable of replacing the goalscoring threat that Salah provides. And Sane’s form this season suggests the 27-year-old has found his groove in front of goal and that he could be a viable option.
But Liverpool will likely want to explore all options available to them in order to keep Salah before they begin contemplating signing a replacement.
